Loading your free book

LOADING TO YOUR DEVICE
There are a couple of different options for loading your free book which you can try depending on what type of e-reader you have. I’ve listed the most common ones below.

One of these should work for you but if you try them and are still having problems then just drop me a line in response to one of my emails and I’ll do what I can to help sort it out.

Once you’ve loaded the book and read it feel free to let me know, I’d love to hear what you thought.

Thanks,

Michael.

P.S. This is a big long page with lots of info but only part of it is relevant to you, find your bit and ignore the rest!

LOADING TO A KINDLE DEVICE

There are a couple of different ways to load to a Kindle, for all of them you will need to start by selecting the mobi file I sent you.

  1. The easiest way:

Amazon have got a free piece of software that makes it fairly painless, it does it all over wifi the way they would send something to your Kindle if you bought it on Amazon. You can download it at the links below depending on whether you use a PC or Mac

PC version

Mac version

Once you’ve downloaded that application it’s as easy as right clicking the mobi file you want to have on your Kindle and selecting ‘Send to Kindle’ or dragging the file to the icon.

  1. Wired connection:

Alternatively you can connect your Kindle to your computer via the USB cable that came with it.

Once connected you’ll see ‘Kindle’ on your computer’s file explorer, it will appear as another drive (like a memory stick would if you ever use those). Depending on the model of Kindle you have within that drive there may be another folder called ‘Documents’.

Drag the mobi file to either the Kindle drive or the ‘Documents’ folder inside it if there is one and… voila!

  1. Via Kindle email:

When you got your Kindle you will have been allocated an email address ending in @kindle.com. If you’ve never sent anything to it before you’ve probably never noticed because you wouldn’t need to, but it’s there. You can find it by looking on your ‘Manage Your Devices’ page on the ‘Manage Your Kindle’ under your Amazon account.

To stop Kindle devices being spammed Amazon make you keep a list of approved email addresses. You can add your normal email to that list by updating the ‘Personal Document Settings’ page at ‘Manage Your Kindle’.

Once that’s done then simply attach the PDF in an email and send it to the Kindle email address and it will appear shortly afterwards on your Kindle home page. If you make the subject line ‘convert’ (one word, without the inverted commas) then Amazon will convert the PDF into a native Amazon file for you. It’s up to you whether you do this, it’s useful if you want to increase font size, etc.

LOADING TO AN IPHONE OR IPAD

Apple make this fairly painless as long as you’ve updated your iPhone or iPad in the last year or so. Around that time they made iBooks a default app on their devices. You may not have noticed if you don’t read ebooks on your device but it’s there, cluttering up your pristine home screen.

Start by selecting the epub file I sent you.

Tap on the file icon and it will automatically add the book to your iBooks library and open it for you. Magic.

LOADING TO ANY OTHER E-READER (NOOK, SONY, ETC.)

There’s really only one way to load to all other e-readers that I know about but it’s fairly straightforward and will be familiar if you’ve ever used external storage like a memory stick (famous last words!)

Select the epub file that I sent you.

Connect your e-reader to your computer via the micro-USB cable that came with it.

Once connected you’ll see it appear in your computer’s file explorer. It will appear as another drive (like a memory stick). Depending on the model of e-reader you have there may be another folder called ‘Documents’ or ‘Books’ inside that folder.

Drag the epub file to either the device folder or the ‘Documents’ or ‘Books’ folder if there is one and… voila!

Any of the above options will result in the same outcome, i.e. the book on your e-reader and ready for you to read it (and hopefully enjoy!)
